Witnesses must be over the age of 18 and present photographic ID. Foreign witnesses must also be in possession of a tourist card. The witnesses are required to stand beside the couple during the signing ceremony, therefore it is advisable to select people from your wedding party. Hotel employees may serve as witnesses for an extra fee of $15 USD each. ·Interpreter Services. Mexican law requires that the civil ceremony to take place in the Spanish language. $15 USD fee. (A religious ceremony has no such requirement) ·Birth Certificate Translation: $25 USD fee per document (Documents must be translated by a Certified Legal Translator from the Cozumel jurisdiction) ·For underwater weddings, a diving certification card is required ·All necessary paperwork is handled directly by your Wedding Coordinator. We require a minimum of 3 business days to complete all formalities. The bride, groom, and witnesses are required to be at the Reef Club a minimum of 3 business days prior to the ceremony. ·Please note: Mexican marriage licenses are commonly recognized in most countries. Nevertheless, before coming to Mexico to marry, be sure to check with your state, province, or national authorities on the requirements for registering your marriage license, as these often vary from country to country. It is the sole responsibility of the marrying couple to verify these registration requirements. Mexican marriage licenses are in the Spanish language, but can be translated upon prior request by one of our certified translators for a fee. ·Note that because government offices in Mexico are closed on Saturdays, your marriage license will be dated by the previous business day (the preceding Friday). If the wedding date should fall on an official holiday, the license will similarly be dated the preceding day. ·The requirements listed above are subject to change in accordance with amendments to Mexican law. ![]()
