Kailua-Kona, or Kona as it is most popularly known, is the Big Island's tourist capital. The town owes its popularity to one fact: Kona enjoys more sun day in and day out than anywhere else in the islands. Once the seat of Hawaii's royalty, the city is now a vacation hotbed, with hotels and condos hovering over the narrow shoreline.
