The coastal community of Vero Beach may be small, but its claims to fame are many. Voted “Best Small Town in Florida” and chosen as one of “The 100 Best Art Towns in America,” Vero Beach is also recognized as the “Citrus Capital of the World.” With its prime location in a climatic transition zone along Florida’s Treasure Coast, Vero Beach offers an unusual mix of vegetation--ancient oak trees and pine forests blend in with swaying palms and tropical flowers--perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and camping. Numerous beaches and nearby waters offer excellent opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing and fishing. Other notable attractions are McKee Botanical Garden, Vero Beach Museum of Art and Indian River Citrus Museum. The city is also home to the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team for spring training. Exhibition games are played from March to early April at Holman Stadium.
