Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How much does the wedding package cost?
Most of our recommended all-inclusive properties include the cost of the wedding ceremony with a minimum stay of five nights. If the wedding is not included, plan for the ceremony to cost from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on how elaborate a ceremony you want. If you want a private reception, the resort may charge a per person set-up fee even though their meals are included.
Is the wedding consultant included? If not, how much will they charge?
If your chosen resort offers the services of a wedding coordinator, you will not be charged any additional fees for their work. Resorts that do not have an on-site wedding coordinator will generally have a company whose wedding services they recommend, and the cost can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars. The service provider will be able to give you a quote based on the arrangements you are requesting.
How do I know if my resort offers all the necessary wedding services e.g. photographers, videographers, florists, etc? What about pre-wedding arrangements on the day of the ceremony like prepping the wedding dress, or doing my nails and hair?
Resorts that offer weddings generally will arrange all of the necessary services through their wedding coordinator. If wedding services are not provided by the resort, they will recommend an outside company with whom they have worked in the past.
Does the resort offer activities for my guests?
The amenities and activities offered by each resort are described in detail on our web site. To find your resort simply go to our home page www.ResortVacationsToGo.com and click Find a Resort to search for your chosen property. Activities may include water sports, an on-site casino, or golf, as well as any special events set up by the resort during your stay such as yoga or culinary classes. If you have a large group, the resort can also customize group tours and activities that your Vacations To Go travel counselor will help arrange.
What are my options for a reception? Will I get a seated meal or just wedding cake and champagne? Are bands available?
Special reception arrangements are typically not included in the cost of your wedding package. If you are interested in customizing your reception, ask your wedding coordinator for a pricing guide for extra amenities. These services normally require a deposit and the balance due at check-out.
Will the ceremony take place inside or outside? Will it be on the beach? Can I choose or change the location once I arrive? What happens if it rains?
Most resorts have several locations for their weddings. Your choices may include a beachfront venue or gazebo, an interior wedding hall, or a cliff overlooking the ocean. Some resorts even offer a small chapel. The wedding coordinator will help you decide which venue is best for your wedding party, and advise you of all options in case of rain.
How should I pack for our wedding?
The airline will have requirements on the number of bags you can check on the plane, normally two per guest, and a maximum weight of each bag. Additional fees may be incurred if you exceed the airline's specified allowances. We recommend that you carry on any materials that will be needed for the wedding, including the dress, tuxedo, rings, etc. in case your bags are delayed or lost.
Will my guests need passports?
A passport is always the recommended identification to carry when traveling to another country, however many countries only require a certified copy of your birth certificate and a photo I.D. Your travel counselor will assist you in determining the requirements for you and your guests.
Can I choose the wording of my vows?
Absolutely. However, in some destinations such as Mexico, your wedding may be performed by a judge in the local language, in which case you would say your personalized vows to each other once the judge has finished with the legal ceremony.
What if there are not enough rooms available? Where would overflow guests stay?
It is always best to make reservations as early as possible, especially for large groups, so there is enough space for all your guests. Space can be reserved in advance by placing a deposit on a block of rooms as soon as you've decided on the resort, dates and number of rooms you will need. If a guest cannot get a room confirmed at your resort, your Vacations To Go travel counselor will help them book a room at the closest available property.
