Ocho Rios
Ocho Rios is centrally located in the "garden parish" of Jamaica's north coast, two hours east of Montego Bay. Lush foliage and forested mountains distinguish its tropical landscape, while the city's lively spirit and infectious energy make the area irresistible.
Ocho Rios is home to one of Jamaica's most popular attractions, the 600-foot cascading Dunn's River Falls. A climb up the falls, which are fed by springs located in the hills above, offers fantastic panoramic views of the city. A little farther south of Ocho Rios is Fern Gully, a former riverbed that is home to more than 500 species of ferns and tropical flora. Visitors can follow a three-mile drive through a green tunnel of 30-foot-tall fern trees. Sugarcane, coffee beans, bananas, coconuts and other products have been harvested for centuries at plantations such as Prospect Estates and Brimmer Hall, which offer tours that outline the life cycle of these exports.
