Runaway Bay
Runaway Bay sits 10 miles west of Ocho Rios and about an hour east of Montego Bay. With quiet coves, infinite beaches and serene waters, this seaside town lives up to its name.
While it is gradually developing into a popular tourist area, the beaches remain relatively uncrowded and well maintained -- perfect for picnics and outdoor activities. Runaway Bay also offers some of the best snorkeling in Jamaica, with reefs close to the shore and a diverse mix of marine life and tropical fish. Protected dive sites also offer visitors glimpses of a large underwater canyon and sunken ships. Tours of nearby Green Grotto Caves explore the limestone chambers and reveal a subterranean lake. Other popular activities in Runaway Bay include golf, horseback riding or visiting the 18th-century Seville Great House, home to a collection of artifacts detailing five centuries of Jamaican history.
