Kohala Coast: 27 miles from Kona airport

Following a $150 million repair and renovation, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection once again stands as a landmark of luxury on the Big Island's golden Kohala Coast.

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is located on Kauna'oa Bay, considered by many to be one of the island's single most picturesque beaches. Crescent-shaped with white sands and aqua waters, there are water activities including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, catamaran riding, whale watching and deep-sea fishing. Even at night, guests step onto a circular lava outcropping overlooking the Bay, to watch the manta rays swim beneath.

In the restaurants, exciting new sights, sounds, scents and sensational tastes elevate the experience of dining in our luxury Hawaii hotel. Gracious guestrooms showcase "understated elegance" in a graceful fusion of modern features and fabulous style.

With a timeless tradition of aloha, The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel welcomes generations of guests to come and be inspired by the past, embraced by the moment, enchanted by the warm days and exciting possibilities ahead.

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection offers the following restaurants and bars:

Manta & Pavilion Wine Bar - Dinner at Manta is an occasion every night, with a dynamic new exhibition kitchen to showcase our chefs' artistry and the next step in the evolution of oenology: the "Enomatic wine experience." An innovative way to serve 48 distinctive wines, selected from new trends, high-end and the latest stars from various vintners, the Enomatic is just one highlight of The Mauna Kea resort's new, extensive wine program, designed to surprise and delight again and again. And in the morning, Manta is the place for long, leisurely breakfasting and pleasant conversation over made-to-order waffles and omelets, fresh tropical fruits and juices, healthy whole grain cereals and various treats from the pastry kitchen with a second, maybe third, cup of the Big Island, Hawaii's famous Hawaiian coffee. This is the Mauna Kea's breakfast buffet, with its ocean-overlook and birdsong symphony, and this is what your family will remember.

Number 3 - Thirsty Golfers seeking a mid-round oasis, will love the tasteful new look and tasty menus of our new golf clubhouse restaurant, Number 3 - almost good enough to guarantee a lower score on the back nine. A golfer's hideaway by day and family retreat by night, Number 3 gives special attention to our VIP "keiki customers" because we all know who really dictates the difference between a good family vacation and a great one. Share a gourmet pizza in a relaxed, casual atmosphere, along with a cold one from the tap, signature Mauna Kea cocktails or frosty fruit smoothie.

Hau Tree - A Hawaii vacation doesn't take a lunch break - it's part of the fun and many pleasures of the Mauna Kea experience. Enjoy time out of the sunshine at the cool, renewed Hau Tree restaurant right by the beach, with new chairs and tables, colorful umbrellas, refreshed kitchen and great new menu items, side by side with your favorite Hawaiian sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, salads and ice cream treats, including the "insider's" Ovaltine Froth. And if there's ever been a better barstool for watching the perfect Pacific sunset, we don't know where it is. The little round bar right off Kohala Coast's Kauna‘oa Beach is still just about the best spot anywhere for a smooth tropical cocktail and a view of the elusive green flash.

Copper Terrace - Join us at the Copper Terrace to celebrate the grand finale of another day in Paradise, with our "Sunset Ceremony." Listen for the long low blow of the p? (conch shell), watch the torch-lighting, make a wish if you wish, and sit back with a Mai Tai or a Copper Terrace signature drink to enjoy the smooth island rhythms of Hawaiian music and hula. We promise to try and tempt you with different themed pupus nightly, prepared a la minute, like a sizzling yakitori grill, icy raw bar delicacies, your favorite sushi and more.

Sunday Brunch - A Mauna Kea tradition, the unforgettable Sunday Brunch Buffet. All your breakfast and lunch favorites enhanced with Chef's selections of savory brunch specialties, including a "temptation table" groaning with irresistible desserts. That opulent ocean view from the terrace, the happy sounds of fine Hawaiian music and a glass of champagne make any given Sunday a special celebration.

Lu'au - You remember. The fantasy welcome with a rum punch cocktail and flower lei. The background sound of surf against soulful steel guitars. Laden tables fragrant with imu-roasted k?lua pig, island fish, laulau, lomi salmon, sashimi and piles of pineapple, papaya, and more. Teach your keiki the joy of finger-licking poi, dancing hula to the "Hukilau" or being wowed by the fire-knife dance. Created for Newsweek magazine back in the 60's The Mauna Kea Hawaiian Lu'au completes the experience with a taste of culture shared by means of music, food and family tradition. Tuesdays: 5:30pm.

Clambake - A longstanding tradition that's still the Big Island's most remarkable seafood buffet, the Mauna Kea Clambake is romantic al fresco dining just like you remember, beachside under the stars. Indulge your appetite for all the Keahole Maine lobster, sashimi, shrimp, crab claws, oysters, mussels and clams you care to eat, plus prime rib of beef and a decadent dessert bar all accompanied by Hawaiian music for dancing in the sand.
